Year 7 Boys do Collingwood Proud at Tournament
On Monday 31 January our Year 7 boys took part in a 7-a-side football tournament hosted by St John the Baptist school.
Twelve teams were involved and Collingwood were in Pool 3, playing fixtures against Winston Churchill, Fullbrook and Hoe Valley. The team played exceptionally well from the first game and won their group comfortably, securing wins against Winston and Hoe Valley, and a 0-0 draw against Fullbrook. Into the semi-finals and Collingwood again played some excellent football throughout and edged a 1-0 victory against Salesian.
In the final Collingwood faced St John the Baptist who had won every game they had played so far either 2-0 or 3-0. The final was competitive and evenly matched and ended 0-0 meaning it had to be decided on penalties. Unfortunately we lost on penalties (I’ve never been a fan!) meaning we finished the tournament as runners up. However, we were undefeated and also did not concede a goal in open play throughout the tournament.
The boys played excellently throughout and certainly did themselves and Collingwood proud.
Well done boys!
