Another District Win for the Boys
On Monday 27 March the Year 7 boys football team travelled to Eggars School in Alton to play in the District Cup semi-final.
On a difficult pitch the boys were very motivated to leave nothing in the tank. Eggars game plan was simple – big kick and flood the forward areas. It was clear it was going to be a long afternoon.
Great football was being played by our lads despite the conditions, with Freddie Hoare proving to be the driving force from the centre of the park.
10 minutes after the start, a break on the left saw Aston Dempsey fouled in the box with the subsequent penalty calmly dispatched by Freddie. He then followed that up 7 minutes later with a forceful run ending with a powerful shot into the roof of the net.
The second half was difficult. Our defence, Eli Loveday, Leon Jessop, marshalled by Harry Phillips (with Christian Higgs in goal) were superb.
Constant pressure, a scrappy home goal all created a heated game with some heavy challenges from both sides. In what was without doubt an ‘ugly’ game, the boys showed fantastic resilience and character to run out winners 2-1.
The final will be at Aldershot FC, date to be confirmed, against Tomlinscote.
Squad: Will Harris, Harry Phillips, Freddie Hoare (2 goals), Jacob Sturt, Aston Dempsey, Leon Jessop, Adam Robson, Christian Higgs, Bradley McKinnon, Eli Loveday, Josh Mears
